CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
2007-2008 EUROPA FELLOWSHIPS PROGRAM

The New Europe College - Institute for Advanced Study in Bucharest,
Romania -, announces the EUROPA FELLOWSHIPS PROGRAM, supported by the
VolkswagenStiftung (Hanover, Germany). The program targets
researchers and academics from South-Eastern Europe (including
Romania), as well as young Western scholars working on South-Eastern
Europe. Applicants must be doctoral students, or hold a Ph.D. title.
Duration of the Fellowship: a) a full academic year (10 months,
October through July) or b) a one-term fellowship (October through
February, or March through July). Location: the New Europe College in
Bucharest, Romania. The Fellowship consists of a monthly stipend of
600 Euro (tax free), accommodation, international transportation to
and from the home country of the Fellows at the beginning and the end
of the Fellowship, as well as for season holidays. The Fellows who
stay for the whole academic year are offered a one-month research trip
abroad to an institution of their choice (2,560 Euro for
transportation, accommodation, and per diem).

The Fellows will be invited to work as members of a team in the
framework of a general research topic entitled Traditions of the New
Europe. A Pre-history of the European Integration in South-Eastern
Europe. (Please see the appended document for the description of the

This year's theme-within the general research topic-is focusing on the
issue of Inhabiting. (Please see the appended document for the
description of the theme!)
Each Fellow will contribute with his/her own research, and will take
part in scientific events organized by the New Europe College. At the
end of their Fellowship, each Fellow is expected to hand in the
research paper comprising the results of his/her work over the
duration of the Fellowship. The papers will be included in a NEC
publication.

Working languages: English, French, and German. A good command of
English is desirable. The deadline for submitting the completed
application by regular mail is
December 15, 2006. The applications will be evaluated by the
Scientific Board of the NEC. Subsequently, the applicants will be
notified both by e-mail and regular mail on the results of the

Fulbright Postdoctoral Research and University Lecturing Awards

The Romanian-U.S. Fulbright Commission is pleased to announce the
annual competition for Fulbright Senior grants for Romanian citizens.
Grants are available for:

• conducting research at the U.S. institutions and/or
• lecturing in the United States in Romanian studies (language,
history, culture and civilization) .
The candidates will be selected through open, merit-based competition
in any field except clinical medicine. Grant duration is between 3-8
months.

Application forms are available starting September 6th, 2006.

Franta
Bursa doctorala “ Eiffel”
Durata: 10 luni
Bursa se adreseaza studentilor straini cu masterat absolvit
Programul prin care se acorda Bursa de doctorat Eiffel ofera facilitati de
educatie pentru incurajarea studiilor post-universitare in Franta si
promovarea mobilitatii studentilor pentru cercetarea post-universitara.
Bursa Eiffel promoveaza oportunitatile oferite de mediul academic din
Franta persoanelor care vor fi implicate in sectorul privat sau public in
urmatoarele domenii:
- Stiinte: stiinte ingineresti, stiinte exacte (matematica, fizica,
chimie), stiintele naturii, bio si nano-tehnologii, stiinta mediului,
stiintele comunicari.
- Economie si management
- Drept, stiinte politice, relatii internationale.
Grupul tinta
Programul ofera studentilor straini cu masterat terminat bursa de un an
de studiu in Franta. Este necesara inscrierea cu o teza de doctorat in
parteneriat cu centrul universitar, studentii ramanand inscrisi in acelasi
timp la universitatea initiala.
Cei care nu sunt vorbitori de limba franceza pot aplica in conditiile in
care vor urma un curs de limba franceza inainte si/sau in timpul
cursurilor.
Durata cursului
Durata medie a cursului este de 10 luni si nu se poate prelungi.
Suma destinata este de 1400 de EURO/ luna dar pot fi alocate si alte
sume pentru calatorie, asigurari de sanatate si activitati culturale.
Alte conditii
Programul bursa doctorala Eiffel nu este accesibil studentilor care sunt
inscrisi si la alte programe de burse oferite de guvernul francez.
Criterii pentru aplicanti:
- pregatirea academica si natura inedita a temei de cercetare;
- politica internationala a centrului de educatie care depune
cererea, reputatia centrului educational.
- Concordanta cu politica de cooperare internationala a
Ministerului Afacerilor Externe Francez
Cererile de inscriere sunt disponibile on-line incepand din data de 13
octombrie 2006, aplicatiile putand fi trimise pana la data de 2 februarie
2007.
